Homemade fries are best fries
(the secret is a boatload of oil and spices. Sweet potatoes if you’re adventurous)

I’ll agree and I’ll add that they’re perfect when dipped in mayo.

Never heard of it.

They’re pretty damn great!

If you get mayo anywhere near my fries, I will cut you.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 22:46 |

They used to be, but then they got soggy. Chick-Fil-A’s fries are best fries. Their chicken is only okay, but dem waffle fries...
![]() 02/22/2018 at 22:50 |

Then just take my word for it. They are transcendent.

Overkill.
I’ll just stick with a dipping sauce of mustard and mayo.

A fresh bucket of these is extremely hard to beat.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 22:53 |

The best fries are yukon golds cut too 3/8th, blanch them, let them chill, fry them, let them chill again, the final frying until golden, then toss in 50(salt)/50(pepper).

Well, you’re fucking wrong.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 22:55 |

Fries are merely a vehicle for ketchup.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 22:57 |

I’ll have to.

Love ‘em with malt vinegar.

They smell amazing, but taste less amazing.

They are... shit I haven’t had five guys in over a year, I should probably change that

Wrong. No one wants soggy fries... especially when you have to dig through the damn fries to get the burger, no thank you

Secret fry recipe? You better believe I’ll be trying that
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:15 |

I’ve cooked well over 10 tons of fries at work, so I better know my shit with fries. I have my way, but you can google double frying fries to better results.

Never been to 5 guys. I keep meaning to go, but it never pans out. I have to say though, there’s something about McD’s fries that just makes them hard to beat.

I prefer food that won’t kill me.

This is the struggle of being a Colombian in the US.
I don’t get the hostility toward fries and mayo.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:22 |

I’m sorry but the best fries, are chips.
Proper chip shop chips.
Or steak cut thick cut chips.
Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:46 |

What’s the best way to fry them if I don’t have a deep fryer. This is outside of my cooking experience
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:52 |

Oh yeah? Well, you’re dumb and you probably drive a Yugo.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:53 |

You might be correct about that.
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:54 |

Then why are you alive?
![]() 02/22/2018 at 23:55 |

In-n-Out are worst fries.

Sounds good.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 00:31 |

I tend to agree. They’re OK if you order them lightly cooked (fry light), but even then I’ve had better. Animal Style is just too much.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 00:32 |

Correction: Five Guys cajun cries are best fries
Wendy’s aren’t actually that bad either.

Fish and chips, chips are among some of the best fries I’ve had. Although they don’t compare to the fries I had in France. Every steak had the best fries paired with it. Absolutely divine.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 01:29 |
|
The chips I had in France were okay, but then it was a motorway services just outside Lyon.
The chip depends on the potato, how it’s cooked and what it’s paired with.
French’d chips don’t suit a steak, steak cut chips are thicker to absorb more of the steak juices and take more sauce with the steak itself.
French’d are more suited to finger eating with burgers, etc...

I had a lot of steaks in Paris. I agree they could be a little ticker. You’ve just reminded me of all the food I had while I was there. Now I’m just hungry.
These fried potato rounds actually had a great texture.
I’m not sure how to classify this cut but they had a nice size while also being manageable.

Potato slices are so good and so easy
Wash and rinse the potato then leaving the skin on, slice into equal thickness slices and then fry. Slices are good for building food on top of. You can elegantly stack a little food on top and fork the food to your mouth rather than swap hands with the fork and use it to spoon the food to your mouth.
Those ones look more steak cut. Good for picking up with fingers, hold some of the heat it, can hold a good amount of sauce with a good contrast in textures from crisp outer to fluffy inner.

You’re wrong. Or at least in my experience you are. Their fries are far too soggy. I assume they’re not cooked for long enough or they didn’t get the oil hot enough.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 06:52 |
|
Great, you’ve turned this into a little mini-jezebel where everyone has a different opinion, and is ready to break out the knives and cut people. Did the whole AR-15 to ban or not to ban argument get to boring for you?

I hate mayo. Mayo is the devil.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 07:22 |

Especially after the 70th fry
![]() 02/23/2018 at 07:38 |

Because I ate the fries that are not cooked in oil that is poisonous to me.

I’m not sure what to make of your comment, but if you are trying to stir shit with me, please stop and just move onto someone’s comment that’s more to your liking.
It turns out that Oppos really enjoy debating things like who has good fries and it’s a nice diversion from how the people in Washington are taking our nation to Hell on a fast horse and the rest of the planet with it.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 09:29 |
|
Yeah. I see where you’re coming from on that. Gotta get the bag open quickly. But they use flavorful potatoes and they fry them a bit browner and leave on the skins and I like all of those qualities. And I eat fries but seldom.
I’m just trying to stir some poop in a more diversionary way than politics, which annoys some of the Oppos when I do that.
![]() 02/23/2018 at 09:53 |

Nope. Trying to make a joke. People are commenting about what they will do if you touch Mayo to their fries. And there’s someone defending McDonald’s fries, when clearly Burger King is at least the winner in that category.

Thank you for replying again. I see the irony as well and enjoy arguing about mayo on fries — who does that? — because children mowed down in schools is much less pleasant to ponder.
I hope the tone of my previous reply didn’t come across snarky. I am very sad right now. I am also a teacher and a firearms enthusiast, a former school administrator, friend of law enforcement generally, and mortified and disgusted by our current POTUS.
Nothing but love for you, and I’ll stir up a fresh French Fry debate later this morning.
